Jake Spicer

Personal information

After leaving the University College for the Creative Arts in Farnham I undertook a period of work in scale model making in Kent before securing a studio in London where I became Treasurer of the Heythrop College Theology Society whilst practicing my portraiture and preparing works for an exhibition at the Calico Gallery, Brighton.

The success of my December 2007 exhibition at the Calico Gallery prompted me to begin a second body of work inspired by living in an 18th Century Farm house Sidmouth, Devon with model Alexandra Gray for three months at the beginning of 2008. The work was exhibited in another well received show at the Calico gallery in Brighton as part of the Brighton Fringe festival 2008 in which I was selected from amongst 1000 Brighton artists as one of the 25 artists short listed by the sponsors, iCrossings, for the Artist of the Year award.
