Whilst growing up in a mining community, Edward's main interests were painting and football.
After leaving school at 15 he went on to study sculpture, pottery, fine art and graphics at Newcastle College of Art - where he won a National Design Bursary to study in Italy.
After working as a graphic designer and illustrator for over 30 years - during which he was presented with a National Rose Award for Design - Edward retired in 2002.
Now, with the opportunity to devote more time to painting, his desire is to capture a moment of expression or movement - bringing life and character into his work.
Since 2003 Edward has held various exhibitions throughout the UK and his work can be found in many private collections.
